I’ve been watching several YouTube videos by a Japanese creator that’s prepping for MBA. His life looks pretty mundane, but at the same time very fruitful. Each day starts at 7:30AM, and ends around 1AM. In between are study sessions, gym sessions, drink meetup with friends, and commute.
It’s impressive because I was so sure that this was me 6 years ago as a student, and more recently when I was doing my Masters. It was all about being as efficient as possible to get as many things done. However recently I’ve had a bit more free time, and I find trouble filling it with meaningful activities. Most of them are mindless idling, and a complete waste of time.
I find it interesting that I feel more tired when I am drained by a single source of energy (work), compared to multiple sources (study + work + workout). I’m not sure what’s the best way to explain this, maybe the satisfaction gained from completing multiple tasks offsets the energy drained from work.
My main takeaway from the series of his videos (which I am aware may be exaggerated for views) is that I am well rested, and it’s time to get back into the groove again, to live a fruitful and meaningful life!
